“Light – Darkness”

“14 Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship have righteousness and inequity? Or what communion hath light with darkness?” II Cor. 6:14. This text, and context, is describing things that are opposites; thus, the idea of light and darkness are poles apart. Spiritually, if one is of light he is not of darkness and he that is of darkness is not of the light.

“Designated Sitter”

I once overheard some young men discussing their baseball little league careers. One of the group had been a catcher, another had played second, etc. One was asked, “What did you play?” “Well, I was a designated sitter”, was the terse reply. Not a designated hitter, but a designated sitter.

“That Is His Personal Life”

Back in the late 1950’s I was attending a lectureship at the school that I had attended. Several preachers were standing around discussing various goings on and issues among brethren at the time. Just recently a very talented young preacher who was fairly popular among some brethren at the time had been caught in a motel room with a woman, not his wife.
